Yakko Jeans: Building a Scalable Identity System through Materiality
The Challenge: In a saturated denim market, YAKKO needed a distinctive identity that could seamlessly scale across both physical retail and digital platforms without losing its premium essence. The objetive was to devolop a bold, iconic visual identity for Yakko, a denim brand catering to both men and women. The goal was to capture the "cowvoy" essence - rugged, resilient, and timeless.
The Concept: Forma Follows Name. Instead of searching for an external symbol, I approached the identity as a structural projet. I utilized the brand´s own nomenclature as the primary building block. Through a process of morphological synthesis, the letters Y-A-K-K-O were deconstructed and reassembled to form the head of a "BULL".
Architectural Approach: Just as materiality defines the soul of a structure, I utilized the textures of denim and the metaphor of 'Rocks' to anchor the brand’s visual foundation. I moved beyond logo creation to establish a set of "design principles" that govern every touchpoint.
Solution: Developed an integrated system using high-contrast visual language and a rigid structural layout, ensuring the brand communicates both durability and luxury.
Impact: Lowered market entry barriers through a cohesive user experience and provided a comprehensive design guideline capable of supporting immediate line extensions.
